The competition has grown to ten teams (including two new franchises from 2017) playing across 58 games and 5 home cities since 2013. In its current format, 10 teams play 59 matches over 40 days. Each team plays 14 games including 2 against every other team and 1 game against the closest rival on their home ground. They also play 4 extra games against other teams depending on where they finish in their group stage. The top 4 teams qualify for playoffs with semi-finals followed by finals at Wankhede Stadium in Mumbai.
